Before you come
Five minutes of preparation makes the hour worth more.
The consultation goes further when Dr. Stone can see what you see. None of it is compulsory.
- Bring photographs of yourself from five or ten years ago. They are more useful than anyone else’s.
- Come without makeup, or bring a wipe. Skin and contour are hard to read through foundation.
- List every medication and supplement, including anything with fish oil, vitamin E or aspirin in it.
- Bring details of any previous facial surgery, filler or thread work: roughly when, and by whom.
- Write down your three top concerns beforehand. Almost everyone forgets one in the room.
- Bring somebody as a second pair of ears. Most people take in less than they expect.
Travelling from out of state? Say so when you book. The consultation and any imaging can usually happen on the same trip.
If your procedure involves sedation
The rules are not suggestions.
None of this applies to a consultation, only to the day of a procedure under intravenous anaesthesia. The practice will confirm it beforehand.
- Nothing to eat or drink, including water, for eight hours before the appointment.
- No smoking for at least twelve hours before surgery. Ideally cut down or stop as far in advance as you can.
- A responsible adult must bring you, stay in the office throughout, and drive you home.
- Do not drive or operate machinery for 24 hours afterwards.
- Wear loose clothing with sleeves that roll up past the elbow, and low-heeled shoes.
- Contact lenses, jewellery and dentures come out at the time of surgery.
- No lipstick, heavy makeup or nail polish on the day.
- Tell the office if you have a cold, a sore throat, or a stomach or bowel upset, before the day if you can.
- If you take routine oral medication, check with Dr. Stone in advance about what to take and what to hold.
Recovery
Plan for longer than you need, and come back early.
The practice’s own guidance, worth reading before you book. Give yourself one to two weeks of private time: not housebound, just nothing you would be sorry to attend swollen.
Back to work
About a week after eyelid surgery, about ten days after CO2 laser resurfacing, two weeks after a facelift. Plan for more and return early if it is going well.
Exercise
Walk immediately. Nothing that raises a sweat for two weeks, and nothing over 10 lb. From day 15, up to 20 lb plus non-impact cardio. From day 21, jogging and swimming. After a facelift, no lifting or sharp head turns for six weeks.
Makeup & sun
Makeup over incisions 48 hours after sutures come out; about ten days after CO2. Sun avoidance matters more: sun on healing skin darkens a scar. Broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher from two weeks, until the pink has gone.
How you will feel
In the first two to four weeks a general melancholy is common, and many patients quietly question the decision. It is normal, and it lifts as you feel physically better. Do not expect family and friends to comment, because people are busy. You had this done for your own reasons, and yours is the opinion that counts.
Follow-up is included, and it goes on for a while. After general anaesthesia your first visit is the day after surgery, then at 7–12 days. After an in-office procedure under local, the first is at 7–12 days. Further visits follow as needed for up to eighteen months, because a face settles slowly.

Do you take insurance?
Cosmetic procedures are not covered by insurance. Some functional work, such as a lid that obstructs vision, a lesion that needs removing or reconstruction after trauma, may be, and Dr. Stone will tell you at the consultation which yours is. For covered procedures the practice is a preferred provider with all major dental and medical carriers.
How does financing work?
Chiefly through Sunbit: the application takes about a minute, checking your options does not affect your credit score, and the decision is immediate. Check your options with Sunbit. CareCredit and Scratchpay are also accepted: if you are already approved with one, bring it.
What do I pay, and when?
A $100 deposit holds your consultation and comes off the fee. For a procedure, the fee is in your written plan, a deposit reserves the surgical date, and the balance is due before the day.
Is a membership cheaper than paying as I go?
Usually yes, if you have treatment more than once or twice a year: credit banks rather than expiring, and members pay less per unit and per syringe. Otherwise, pay as you go. Compare the tiers.
Is the quoted fee the whole cost?
Published fees cover the face unless stated otherwise. Additional areas are priced separately, and anaesthesia, where needed, is $300 per 15 minutes on top. Your written plan states the total, with nothing added afterwards.
What if I decide not to go ahead?
That is a normal outcome and there is no follow-up campaign. The plan stays on file for whenever you want it.
